Only downside is it is written by a maester; which is kinda cool but also very one sided in some aspects. If you are a fan you know that the citadel don't condone magic, so some of the legends I think are closed over due to it being from a maesters view point.

Garca, Jr. Martin has always loved popular history; Game of Thrones was loosely inspired by accounts of the wars of the Roses. Iice mayhaps some of the feats of the greenseers have more to do with foolish tales than truth. The artwork was fantastic though on a few occasions the same individual was depicted multiple times by different artists but looking completely different, which sometimes made the reader do a double take.

Martin, along with his co-authors, offers readers a breathtakingly detailed history of Westeros preceding the events in the novels. In fact, many of the chapters could form their own series of equally weighty books. Saying this, it is probably a little bit too geeky and information-overload for fans of the TV show. Those who have already devoured Martin's monstrous novels will find this guide easier to digest.

The pages are not black type on white typical book pages. They are rich colors, with frequent illustrations enhancing the text. If you're a Games of Thrones fan, particularly of the books, you should love this volume that enhancing by filling in more of George Martin's world.
